RC Planes

Another one of my too expensive hobbies.  It's been a while since I've flown, but I still have a scratch built Mini Sukhoi SU-26.   It's the second of two I have built from scratch.  The first was on it's maiden flight when the radio just totally died and the plane nosed straight into the ground.  I was pretty bummed out, but they are small and inexpensive, and quick to build.  I made a set of templates for most of the parts so I can construct one in only a couple of weeks.  Flying RC planes if an exhilirating experience.   Escpecially if you build the plane yourself.  The thrill of something you built with your own hands flying around in the sky cannot be explained.  I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hobby, and who has the time. Money is not a big issue if you get yourself into the hobby gradually.  A good plane kit will cost you $50-$100 bucks, but that will get you everything you need for a couple of months to build the plane.  The radio shouldn't cost any more than $120-$150.  The engine depending on the size $50-$100.   And misc parts to maintain and fly the plane can add up to $100.  I know this sounds like a lot, but you don't need all of this stuff at once.  Just the kit will do for a while, then you can add stuff from there.
